Privacy policy
ScrCast records your screen in Chrome and gives you one private link. This page says what we keep, why, and how to reach us.

The account
When you create an account we store your email and a hashed password. We email a 6-digit code from [email protected] to confirm the address. That code is stored only as a hash, expires in 10 minutes, and is discarded after you confirm.
The site keeps a sign-in cookie in your browser. The extension keeps the same sign-in, your email, and whether the account is on Pro, in Chrome’s local storage on that computer.
Recordings
A recording is saved on your computer first. If you are signed in when you stop, the video file is uploaded to scrcast.com. We store the file, the title, the length, the size, and the private address. Anyone with that address can watch it. It is not listed in a public library.
Delete a video from the dashboard and we delete that file and that address.
If you draw a cover, or ask ScrCast to cover a word, we store the position and the times of those covers so the watch page can hide that area. A word search reads still frames of that video on our server and deletes those frames when the search finishes. The video is not sent to another company for this.
Views
The watch page sets a random cookie so one browser is counted once. We store that random id with the video. We do not store the viewer’s name.
The extension on a page
ScrCast can place its record bar on a site after you allow that site. That permission is used to keep the controls on the page. The page itself is not sent to us. What you record is sent only if you upload the video.
Recorder settings, such as the countdown and the camera choice, stay in Chrome’s storage on your computer.
Pro payments
The 14-day Pro trial does not ask for a card. If you continue on Pro, checkout is handled by Dodo Payments. We store the plan status and the Dodo customer and subscription ids. We do not store the card number.
We email the confirmation code, a short welcome after you confirm, and the private link when a recording finishes. Those messages go out from [email protected] through our email provider.
Closing an account
Email sagarmoy@symlinktech.com from the account address and ask us to close it. We will delete the account and the recordings stored for it. You can delete individual videos yourself from the dashboard before that.
